Krishnan Guru-Murthy had his Strictly Come Dancing co-star in tears after a sad admission following his exit.

The Channel 4 newsreader was booted out of the competition over the weekend and appeared alongside his professional dance partner Lauren Oakley on the BBC Latin and ballroom show's spin-off to discuss his exit. Krishnan was in the dance off alongside Angela Rippon, but the judges chose to save her and put her through to Blackpool week.

The newsreader chatted with Fleur East about his time on his show, where him and Lauren reminisced about their eight weeks in the competition. As they watched their highlights, both Krishnan and Lauren got emotional.

The pair were both handed tissues as they cried over their memories on the show when Krishnan made a sad admission. He admitted that no one would miss the show as much as he would, leaving Lauren even more emotional.

"No one will miss this show as much as I will," he said, before revealing his son Jay became a huge Strictly fan after supporting him at each live show and would love to take part in the show next year.

During last night's results show, Krishnan dubbed his partner the "real Strictly star", explaining how special she is. He said: "Look this has been the most incredible experience. I said it has been life changing and it genuinely has. I am incredibly grateful to the entire production team, judges, my incredible Strictly family up there. It’s right I am going out this week and I have got to get back to life. The thing that has made Strictly really special is Lauren. She is most incredible teacher, partner, friend. She is the real Strictly star and I am so delighted I am the first partnership you have had. She is going to go a long way and I am very proud of her."

And Lauren paid tribute to Krishnan, adding: "I couldn’t have asked for a better first dance partner, it has been an absolute dream. This guy is what Strictly is about from not having danced a step eight weeks ago and you just danced that Samba! I had an absolute ball every single week. You taught me so much as well, I am so grateful and it will be in my memory forever, and we will keep dancing."

Anton du Beke, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood all decided to save Angela Rippon, whilst head judge Shirley Ballas said she would have chosen to save Krishnan, but her vote didn't count as they had already reached a majority.
