Josie Gibson says camp-mates will need to calm her down when she turns 'hangry' in the jungle - but has been training hard for the moment when the food runs out.

This Morning presenter Josie has been confirmed as an I'm A Celebrity contestant ahead of the big launch next Sunday. The Bristolian, who declared insects are her biggest fear, says her family think she is "mad" to sign up for the ITV show but is ready to move out of her comfort zone.

She will be joined by ex-politician Nigel Farage, 59, jockey Frankie Dettori, 52, ex-EastEnder Danielle Harold, 31, First Dates star Fred Sirieix, 51, Made In Chelsea's Sam Thompson, 31, and JLS singer Marvin Humes plus plenty of others - and they're all dreading the day the grub runs out.

Dealing with hunger pangs may be a little easier for Josie, who has been coaching herself in the build-up to the latest series. She said: "I have never let myself get so hungry before that I have been 'hangry'. People might have to calm me down but I have been trying to build up my endurance and stamina in the run up to this."

Josie, who says Dawn French would be her ideal camp-mate, says she is most looking forward to "being at one with nature" and is happy to "give it a go" despite admitting she hates so much about what the experience infamously throws at its star-name guests.

The instantly likeable 38-year-old was the third star to jet in to take part in I'm A Celebrity but she tried to pull the wool over the Mirror's eyes when quizzed at Brisbane airport. Josie joked that she was Down Under for a weight loss retreat. The fibber said: "I'm really excited to be here in Australia, I have never been here before. What am I scared of? I'm here for a weight loss retreat so I don't know what you're talking about."

Josie first found fame when she won the 11th series of Big Brother back in 2010. She managed to secure a huge 77.5 percent of the public vote making her one of the most popular contestants ever. Perhaps for this reason she is the bookmakers' current favourite to win this year's I'm A Celebrity.

She first began appearing on This Morning as a competition announcer in 2019 and once again proved a hit with TV viewers. She is now an established co-presenter on the show and following Phillip Schofield's departure has been steadily getting more and more days fronting the show.

Talks between Josie's reps and I'm A Celeb bosses were said to have been going on for months, meanwhile, with the presenter likely to pocket a six-figure sum to appear. "Josie is hugely popular with This Morning viewers and producers were determined to get her," an ITV insider previously told the Sun. "She is seen as the perfect person for the jungle and will bring her fanbase with her.

"She’s incredibly down-to-earth and seems to strike a chord with people at home. Plus they’re confident Josie will bring the laughs to I’m A Celebrity, as she already does on This Morning, and is guaranteed to get on with most of the jungle campmates. For all those reasons they were hellbent on getting her - if she was lured by the glitter of Strictly they weren’t going to let her go without a fight."

I'm A Celebrity starts on ITV on Sunday November 19 at 9pm.
