The family home of a schoolboy accused of murdering fellow teen Alfie Lewis has been attacked.

The 14-year-old’s home in Leeds was hit at the weekend, leaving glass shattered all over the front garden.

The glass in the front door and several windows have been damaged and a brick left lying in the front garden.

It is believed several threats have also been made towards the boy’s family.

No one was thought to be at home at the time of the attack, as police had been carrying out forensic tests and searches of the property days earlier.

He is due to enter a plea next month. Alfie, 15, was attacked in the Horsforth area of the city on Tuesday afternoon as children were leaving two nearby schools. On Friday members of Alfie’s family sat in the public gallery as the teenager accused of stabbing him to death made his first appearance at crown court.

The accused blew kisses at his mum who turned to speak to him constantly at the first hearing the day before. The teen has been charged with murder and possessing a knife. Judge Guy Kearl KC, the Recorder of Leeds, remanded the teenager into youth detention accommodation until his plea and trial preparation hearing at Leeds crown court on December 8th.

The judge said "concerns for (the defendant’s) safety" were among the considerations when deciding where he should stay until his next appearance. "The issues in the case are not fully defined, the background to the case is not yet known,” he said. "I have considered remanding (the youth) to local authority accommodation but I consider something more secure is required at this time."

Police refused to comment on the incident. A gofundme campaign for Alfie has so far raised £17,000 to support his family and friends. It says: “Alfie was a kind and thoughtful boy who had all of his friends’ best interests at heart.”

One person who donated wrote: “Working with you at Horsforth was an absolute joy, your cheeky smile shined so bright! I always admired how much you cared about others. You had so much love for all of your friends and family and were someone they could always count on. The goodness you put into this world is something you will forever be remembered for…”
