Mum's grim discovery at the bottom of son's bed makes people's 'skin crawl'

Most kids have trouble sleeping at night due to the thought of creepy species living under beds. The frightening tales of monsters lurking in the darkness have been popularised in movies and literature over the last century, with some stories triggering nightmares.

But the myth seemingly became a reality for one child after his mum spotted what appeared to look like seeds or eggs near his bed. Dumbfounded, the woman took to the Family Lowdown Tips & Ideas Facebook group, in search of answers. One person suggested it could be tarantula black widow scorpion eggs.

She wrote: "Does anybody have any idea what this could be? It's at the end of my son's bed on the floor," she wrote alongside pictures of tiny dark objects, that look like small eggs, sprawled across the floor near her seven-year-old son's bed.

"Not anywhere else in his room, not in his ottoman bed base or under his bed. Just at the end in one spot (I've spread it out a bit to look). Any ideas, please?" she pleaded.

Some horrified parents reached out to the worried mother but were unsure of what they were seeing. One person said the picture made their 'skin crawl', writing: "OMG, my skin is crawling - I hope this is cereal as I'm about to freak the freak-out." Another wrote: "Nope ... new fear unlocked."

Many worried users shared their own theories on what could have possibly caused the issue. They shared: "Definitely tarantula black widow scorpion eggs. Extremely bitey, and they bide their time to attack." Another added, "The horror definitely looks like it's from something scary."

Some believed it was due to a mice infestation. One person said: "Had this in both my kids' bedrooms. They had them 'Warmies' that go in the microwave. You heat them up, and they smell like lavender. Anyways, it turns out I had mice. Eating all the insides of the toys I caught them on camera. I had to move out. So my advice is bin the toys and get your traps out." Another member recalled a similar incident, saying, "Had something similar in our shed once. It was evidence of mice/rats getting in."

Thankfully, the mum was able to find out the root cause of her problem. She explained: "I hoovered it a couple of days ago, and it wasn't there. I went back to hoover again, and it was. I have now found out it's from a heat teddy that's popped at the end of his bed."
