Jim Ratcliffe plots rival raid after Erik ten Hag's "danger" warning

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will head into the international break with some respite after overseeing a nervy 1-0 win over Luton Town on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils chief has found himself under pressure in recent weeks in the wake of the club's worst start to a season since 1974 but back-to-back wins in the Premier League should silence some of his critics - even if United were far from convincing against the Hatters.

A second-half goal from Victor Lindelof was enough to seal all three points for United, who will attempt to regroup during the two-week break. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest news from in and around Old Trafford...

Ratcliffe plots rival raid

Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe could attempt to poach Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman in the coming weeks.

The British billionaire has agreed a £1.3billion deal with the Glazers for a 25 per cent minority stake in the club and will assume control of all sporting operations when said agreement is ratified in the coming days.

Erik ten Hag's prediction that former academy graduates Teden Mengi and Tahith Chong were a "danger" ahead of Saturday's match against Luton Town was proved right.

Although Victor Lindelof eventually struck to sink the Premier League strugglers, Rob Edwards' side impressed at Old Trafford with Mengi in particular standing out for the Hatters.

Just as Ten Hag predicted, United were made to work for their win - but another previous three-point haul will be welcomed by the Dutchman heading into the international break.

Erik ten Hag will be forced to serve a one-match touchline ban after he was shown a yellow card in the win over Luton.

The former Ajax chief has now accumulated three cautions in the Premier League this season and, as a result, will not be able to take his usual position on the touchline when United travel to Everton after the international break.

Ten Hag was booked for complaining about the awarding of a throw-in during a tense match at Old Trafford, which United desperately needed to win.
