Mikel Arteta calls up Arsenal wonderkid who "has everything" before Burnley game
Mikel Arteta could be about to unleash one of his secret weapons as Arsenal look to get back on track in the Premier League against Burnley.
The controversial defeat at Newcastle last week prompted a week of controversy, with the Spaniard savage in his assessment of VAR. Anthony Gordon's winning goal was allowed to stand despite three potential infringements in the build-up, all of which were seeming ignored by officials at Stockley Park.
But the Gunners responded by beating Sevill a in the Champions League on Wednesday, and will also be expected to take three points against the Clarets. And home fans could be treated to the sight of 19-year-old Charles Sagoe Jr playing a part.
That's after the highly rated club graduate was called into first team training by Arteta this week. The forward joined a group of Academy players to mix with the senior squad at London Colney, with the club's media team later posting photos to confirm their involvement.
Sagoe Jr has previously already appeared for Arteta in the Carabao Cup against Brentford this season, having previously been lauded by teammate Reiss Nelson: “I’ve been watching you,” Nelson had told The Mirror.

“I watch a lot of the Under 21 games and literally, I’m not just saying this because you’re here, you have everything to be an Arsenal winger. You’re unpredictable, you can move on your left, on your right, you can score, you can assist, you’ve got everything."

And Nelson added that the key to Sagoe Jr making it to the top was self discipline and avoiding off-field distractions: “It’s just about keeping your head down and not getting distracted or disheartened by anything that happens.”
Sagoe Jr can take heart from Arteta's tendency to give youth a chance. Bukayo Saka has come through the ranks at the club and is now a pivotal figure to the Gunners, with Eddie Nketiah also now making an impression at first team level.
Sagoe Jr started out at Fulham but was just 10-years-old when he made the move across London. And despite his teenage years, he's featured regularly for the Under 21 side in the past three seasons.
