Formula 1 star Daniel Ricciardo has been warned to avoid strippers and magicians out on the track ahead of the 41-year return of next week's Las Vegas Grand Prix.

The Vegas GP made its long-awaited return to the F1 calendar for the 2023 season, with the world's top drivers heading to Sin City to race around the iconic strip on November 19. Ahead of the penultimate outing of the year, Ricciardo appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to preview the third F1 trip of the year to the U.S.

Show host Kimmel is a man who knows Las Vegas well, having been born and raised in the Nevada City, and therefore had some interesting advice for the 34-year-old motorsport driver.

Discussing the strip-based track, Kimmel told Ricciardo: "You gotta be careful though because you know, there are people with like Margaritas and uh, Daquiries that are like four and a half feet tall, you could easily run somebody over like, just don’t discount that factor, all right? If you see a red light, stop is what I’m saying!”

Laughing, the F1 star responded: "I guess what you’re saying is there’s 19 others that I have to watch out for but it could be more?" Ever the comic, the show host added: "It could be thousands! There could be magicians, there could be strippers walking across. You don’t want to hit a stripper!”

The iconic Vegas strip is set to welcome the F1 circuit in a similar fashion to the famous Monaco race, with the drivers competing throughout the city. Ricciardo was worried this may well have upset some locals, telling Kimmel: "You must hate us."

The U.S. show host however reassured Ricciardo that the Vegas locals are looking forward to welcoming the world's top racers back to their city. "No! Not at all! In fact, I will tell you that people in Las Vegas are really excited about this, they’re really like, you know, a lot of crazy things happen in Vegas but this one they’re particularly excited about."

Having kicked off 2023 as Red Bull's reserve driver, Ricciardo regained his F1 seat midway through the season after replacing Nick De Vries at Alpha Tauri to partner up with Yuki Tsunoda. Since then the Australian has featured five times on the track, with his best performance of the campaign to date coming in a seventh-place finish in Mexico last month.

Ricciardo's return has been a frustrating one, after having to spend yet another spell on the sidelines after breaking his hand. Despite the setbacks, the Aussie admitted after his season-best finish in Mexico City that he felt like his 'old self' again behind the wheel. "I think there was definitely a positive chip on my shoulder," he told Sky Sports F1.

"I know I haven’t done much this year race-wise, but I feel a lot like my old self and I feel like I can do well... I felt like there were some things left on the table and some things with setup that we knew we could try with a more conventional weekend. Some things I definitely wanted to try and had some confidence in.

"From Lap 1 yesterday I felt really confident. P4 is maybe a little more than we thought. Coming into qualy it was about how far could we get inside Q3. As a team we definitely had confidence. I thought maybe with the perfect lap it would be P6 or P7, not quite a P4, so it's cool.”
