Strictly star Annabel Croft 'overwhelmed' by reaction to tribute to late husband
Strictly Come Dancing star Annabel Croft was left "overwhelmed" by the outpouring of support from viewers after her "emotional" dance last weekend.
The star paid tribute to her late husband by dedicating her latest performance to him, leaving viewers moved to tears. Annabel and her pro dance partner Johannes Radebe hugged it out at the end of the routine, after Annabel shared her tribute to her late husband who sadly died earlier this year.
Mel Coleman passed away in May aged 60, just weeks after he had been diagnosed with stage three cancer. Annabel took on the series after the loss of her husband, and has often talked of wishing he was there to see her take to the dance floor.
As she and Johannes spoke on It Takes Two on Wednesday evening, they shared how "emotional" the dance was, with Johannes admitting he did not know how she did it given the significance of it. It's then that Annabel revealed the "overwhelming" messages she had received after Saturday, with her dance resonating with many people.

"I've been overwhelmed with the response to it but when we were in it, it was like an out of body experience. We were transported to a different place.
"I couldn't imagine doing it with anyone else but Johannes, we connect so well. He understands me so well, but it was something extraordinary. It was an incredible moment and I think it touched people in a way I hadn’t anticipated. I've be overwhelmed by it."
On Saturday night, Annabel and Johannes took to the ballroom floor to perform their couples choice dance - showing off their footwork as they performed a lyrical dance. And at the end of the performance, Annabel sent a kiss to the sky in a touching tribute to her late husband.
Ahead of her performance, Annabel shared some background about the dance. She told cameras: “This week it's Couple's Choice and we're dancing a lyrical dance to the song Wings by Birdy. I think this song is definitely a tribute to my husband Mel. It couldn't be anything other than that.
"As soon as we met I was just taken by his massive smile and his great sense of humour. We were supposed to have our 30th wedding anniversary this year and I never ever saw what's happened coming."
