'Poor' Prince Harry mocks himself to 'create chatter' amid King Charles' speech

Prince Harry showed off his funny side in a hilarious clip for Stand Up For Heroes, but one expert has questioned the timing of the video.

The Duke of Sussex joked that, as someone with ginger hair, he is an "endangered species" before making a dig about how his life is often "scrutinised". The video, which was filmed from Harry's Montecito mansion, was shared at the Stand Up For Heroes comedy event in New York on Monday night, just one day before Harry's father King Charles gave his first speech as a monarch.

Charles opened Parliament for the first time as King on Tuesday, marking the start of the parliamentary year. PR expert Matt Yanofsky believes the timing of Harry's video suggests he is trying to "generate tabloid questions".

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, The Moment Lab founder suggested Harry's clip was "likely long in the works". He explained: "It's a smart PR play on Harry's part because the bad rap on him is he's too serious. He's the world's biggest poor little rich boy.

"Mocking his preciousness is exactly what his public relations needs." Matt said the humour in the clip was likely calculated to be dropped at the same time as Charles' speech.

He told us: "With that said, his team likely dropped it around the same time as the king's speech because they knew it would generate tabloid questions about the timing amplifying the reach of the video and therefore the chatter about Prince Harry."

In Harry's video, he said: "Hello New York. Obviously I was deeply honoured when Bob asked me to debut my stand-up act with you all tonight."

He later added: "Due to the shockingly low representation of gingers last year, and out of respect for my fellow endangered species, here I am, reporting for duty. As someone who never gets scrutinised, I haven't even had to prepare much."

The Duke of Sussex continued: "But out of an abundance of caution, I have been working on this particular act for quite some time and everyone I know tells me it's perfect. And no, these aren't people who just tell me what I want to hear, these are people like my finance manager, my lawyer, and of course, my reiki healer."
