When it comes to cooking eggs, in whatever form, people always seem to find fault in other's methods and techniques. And it appears Gordon Ramsay is no different after a resurfaced 2017 episode of Masterchef US caught the attention of viewers on social media. Revealing his secret to making the perfect scrambled eggs, the celebrity chef, 51, shared his unique process while cooking in front of a room full of competitors.

"The secret behind any great scrambled eggs is to make sure you do not overcook it," Ramsay explained, as he cracked six cold eggs and three small knobs of butter into a saucepan before bringing the pan to the heat. "Start cooking the eggs very gently," he advised while stirring the eggs with a spatula. "Every time I stir, I'm cleaning the bottom of the pan. The key here is to keep the pan on the heat for about thirty seconds before taking it off for the same amount of time."

"[It] slows down the cooking process [and] stops the eggs from overcooking," Ramsay explained. "You need to be very careful, if you've overcooked it you'll see the scrambled eggs go very watery. It's really important that you go on and off throughout the whole three minutes," he added while returning the pan to the stove.

According to Ramsay, all seasoning should happen right at the end of the process, as salt can break down the egg and make it watery if added too early. But salt isn't the only thing to add to the dish at the very end. The chef shared his secret ingredient, saying: "Here is where it goes to a completely different level; take a teaspoon of crème fraiche. That gives a really nice creamy texture. More importantly, it stops [the eggs] from overcooking,"

He added: "Come to serve you want to see nice and light, fluffy scrambled eggs [that are] a little bit creamy. They're scrambled eggs to die for. Finally, finish with a little smidgen of chopped chives." However, many people were left unconvinced with this method and rushed to mock the chef.

One viewer wrote: "I can now go to bed knowing that I make better scrambled eggs than Gordon Ramsay." While another person scoffed: "It doesn't look fluffy, it looks runny scrambled eggs. And someone else penned: "Only thing worse than over cooked scrambled eggs is uncooked scrambled eggs."

Another person blasted: "Sorry really not how you make the perfect scrambled eggs." However, not everyone thought he was wrong. One viewer wrote: "To everyone who is hesitant to try this because they are “too runny” just cook them a little longer until they’re a consistency you’re happy with. They’re still amazeballs when ‘overcooked’ by Ramsay’s standards. I seriously won’t cook scrambled eggs another way now that I’ve tried this." Someone else added: "For the first time in my life I made eggs this way and my God they were phenomenal! So smooth and delicious."
