Emmerdale villager makes unexpected baby discovery as character goes into labour

Emmerdale is set for explosive scenes next week when Rhona Goskirk discovers ex Gus Malcolm has stolen her embryos and his partner, Lucy, is now heavily pregnant.

Last week, Marlon Dingle bumped into wife Rhona's ex Gus in the hospital, where his partner Lucy was heavily pregnant. Viewers will recall that Gus showed up in the village earlier this year, asking ex Rhona for her help. He revealed to her that he was in a new relationship and wanted to have kids with his new partner but they weren't able to.

He said he had kept the embryos they had frozen while together and wanted to use them but needed her permission, as she was the other parent of the embryo. Rhona was left floored as she believed the embryos had been destroyed and after meeting Lucy, contemplated letting them use the embryos before changing her mind. When Marlon bumped into Gus last week, he instantly became suspicious as the duo pretended they had conceived "naturally".

Marlon then threatened to ring Rhona to which the couple came clean, admitting they had used the embryos without Rhona's consent. Things took an even more dramatic turn when Gus confessed he even stole Rhona's passport to forge documents and fake her consent. Marlon was left floored by the discovery and has struggled to keep the news a secret.

Next week, Marlon ends up blurting the news to a shocked Rhona on how Gus stole her embryos and he saw a heavily pregnant Lucy at the hospital. Rhona struggles to process this news and the next day, a shocked Rhona taps up Ethan for some legal advice, who makes clear it would be an arduous legal battle with Gus and Lucy.

Marlon and Mary convince Rhona to speak to Gus and she arranges to meet him the next day. When Gus fails to show, Rhona finds herself staking out his house and is shocked to see him trying to escape with suitcases. Confronting Gus, Rhona is left in turmoil when heavily pregnant Lucy emerges. Meanwhile, back at the village, Marlon and Mary grow increasingly worried about Rhona's disappearance. Later, an emotional confrontation in the street between Rhona and Lucy takes a distressing turn when Lucy doubles over in pain, her waters have broken and Rhona finds herself driving her to hospital.
