Emmerdale airs heartbreaking split for loved couple as Craig's killer exposed
Emmerdale aired a sad break-up on the ITV soap on Monday night in the fallout to dark scenes.
Lydia Dingle appeared to end her marriage to Sam Dingle, after he was arrested over the death of her rapist Craig last week. Craig was killed in mystery circumstances in a recent episode, and last week flashbacks revealed what had happened.
A number of suspects were accused of the crime, before Sam seemingly confessed to accidentally killing his wife's rapist. He was soon arrested after admitting to detectives he had attacked Craig hours before his death.
Of course what he did not know was that he did not actually kill Craig, and two residents knew he was innocent. His brother Cain Dingle allowed him to think his attack led to Craig's demise, knowing full well it was someone else who should have been interrogated.
Kim Tate's horse accidentally killed Craig during a stand-off in the field, witnessed by Cain. Kim went to call for an ambulance bit Cain pretty much threatened her to leave him to die, and stay silent.

Emmerdale aired a sad break-up on the ITV soap (ITV)The pair knew that Sam would be interrogated, but were not banking on him being arrested for the crime. Kim had allowed her horse to run free after the incident in a bid to cover up what really went down.
But on Monday, Sam was released and revealed to be innocent of the crime as police worked out how he really died. They confirmed that the injuries on his body were consistent with a horse's kick.
Having been told Kim's horse had escaped, they were under the impression this same horse had crossed paths with Craig and caused his fatal injuries. Cain was heard telling Kim their plan had worked, as Sam raced home and told Lydia what really happened.
But it wasn't enough for her, with her still furious that Sam had beaten up Craig and could have killed him. Believing she would not get justice for her rape ordeal, she told Sam she could not be with him anymore and ended their relationship.
Sam was devastated believing his innocence would be enough to stop Lydia from leaving him. So will the pair find a way back from this, or is their marriage over for good?
