The real reason why Prince Harry is "dependent" on Meghan Markle three years after leaving UK has been revealed by an expert.

After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex got married in 2018, the couple spent just shy of two years in the United Kingdom. Welcoming their son Archie, and renovating Frogmore Cottage, it seemed that the couple would reside in Harry's homeland for the foreseeable.

But in 2020, the couple announced that they would be stepping down as senior working Royals, with them then moving across the pond that summer. Moving to Montecito in California, the couple went on to welcome their second child, Lilibet.

And now that they have resided in America for more than three years, we're taking a look at why the Duke of Sussex seems "dependent" on his wife still, despite them being separate entities. Speaking to Louella Alderson, relationship expert and co-founder of SoSyncd, The Mirror can exclusively reveal the reason why Prince Harry depends on the former actress-turned-Duchess.

Speaking exclusively to us, Louella said: "It's not uncommon for people to become more reliant on their partners for social interaction, especially when they are going through a significant life change, like moving away from their family. In Harry's case, leaving the royal family and relocating to the United States with his wife and children would have undoubtedly been a major adjustment. It's natural for Harry to turn to his partner for support and companionship during this time."

She added that Harry may be feeling the effects of being away from his family and the social circles he was previously a part of, but noted that as he settles into life in the US and makes new connections, he could "become less dependent on Meghan for social interaction".

Louella noted that the level of dependence on a partner "tends to vary throughout a relationship". She said that at different times in the relationship, one person may rely more on their partner for support and companionship than the other, "but this often changes over time".

"As long as both partners are willing to communicate and make efforts to maintain a healthy balance in the long run, this reliance on each other during times of need can be a healthy part of their relationship," she went on.

Louella then noted that it is very important for Harry to "maintain his own individual identity and social life outside of his relationship for his long-term well-being and happiness". Although she did note that it is in fact "normal" for people to seek comfort in their partner during a significant life transition, "so Harry being more reliant on Meghan for his social life right now isn’t unusual".

She concluded by saying: "But if it’s the same story in 12 months’ time, it might be a cause for concern. Healthy relationships require a balance between having your own friends and depending on your partner for social interaction.

"It’s essential for Harry to find this balance if he wants his relationship to thrive and stand the test of time."
