Matthew Perry has been buried in a graveyard just meters away from the studio where Friends was filmed.

The actor was laid to rest in a private memorial service yesterday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles. The cemetery - which is also 'home' to the remains of Star Wars heroine Carrie Fisher, cinema legend Bette Davis, and INXS frontman Michael Hutchence - is opposite Warner Bros Studios, where the hit 90s sitcom was filmed for a decade.

While many of the exterior and cityscape shots were filmed in New York, almost the entire show was filmed and produced at the famous California studios. Friends premiered in 1994 and ran for 10 seasons. The final episode aired in 2004 and broke records with more than 50million viewers. The cast reunited in 2021 and Perry burst into tears as they reminisced about filming the show.

Matthew, 54, was found dead in his Los Angeles home last week. According to his assistant, he played Pickleball for two hours before coming home and sending her out on an errand. When she returned, it was claimed that she called 911 after finding his lifeless body in a hot tub, with medics initially theorising he might have had a heart attack and drowned.

At the time, it was reported that no drugs were discovered at the scene and there was no indication of foul play. It was then later revealed that initial toxicology tests did not show any fentanyl or meth in Matthew's system at the time of death, with his cause of death still unknown.

His untimely death has triggered a huge outpouring of grief from fans of his career-defining performance as Chandler Bing in Friends, as well as from his A-list co-stars. It was reported the former cast mates, Lisa Kudrow, 60; Courteney Cox, 59; David Schwimmer, 57 and Jennifer Aniston, 54, arrived together at his funeral.

Images showed black suited men escorting a dark wooden coffin into the church as mourners reportedly gathered and comforted one another with embraces. It is not known if the location was chosen by Perry himself in a will.

The service ended with a rendition of Peter Gabriel song 'Don't Give Up', reports the Mail, including the line: "No fight left or so it seems, I am a man whose dreams have all deserted, I've changed my face, I've changed my name, But no one wants you when you lose.". The lyrics could be seen as a touching comment on Perry's fight to beat his drug and alcohol addiction - of which he was open about and revealed in detail in his memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.
