Matthew Perry's ex-fiancée Molly Hurwitz “wishes” he had not “thrown away” their relationship, and had hoped for a long-lasting romance with the Friends star.

The 54-year-old began dating Molly in 2018, and he popped the question in November 2020, amid the Covid-19 pandemic. While he later confessed he was under the influence of opioid drugs at the time, the couple remained together, but in June 2021, it was announced that they had split for good.

While no reason was given at the time, and Matthew even said in a statement that he “wished her the best”, it has been reported that she broke off their engagement after it emerged he had been chatting to other women - including a 19-year-old - on exclusive celebrity dating app Raya.

Molly paid a loving tribute to her ex on social media after news broke of his tragic death over the weekend, and a source close to the literary agent told DailyMail.com that she once had high hopes for their relationship. “She loved him and just like anyone else would feel in her instance, wishes things would have been different,” a souce explained.

“Matthew claimed he wanted this family and to be loved forever by one woman, but he had that with her until he threw it away,” they added. The pair’s relationship came to an end in 2021 when footage of his flirty exchange on the dating app with fellow user Kate Haralson, 19, was leaked online.

She uploaded a clip of her and Matthew talking over FaceTime in a post on TikTok, after claiming she was matched to the 17 Again star on the membership-only dating app. “When you match w Matthew Perry as a joke on a dating app and he facetimes you and plays 20 questions with you,” she captioned the video.

At the time, Kate said she felt “kind of weird talking to someone my dad’s age,” and at one point, Matthew even asked her: “Am I as old as your dad?” She quickly took down the clip after admitting she “felt a little bit bad” because the actor was “a nice guy”.

But the damage had already been done, and Matthew’s relationship with Molly was effectively over, and the source claimed that she had even caught him talking to a “teenage girl” on the dating website. “Their split was not amicable, but Molly doesn’t blame him, nor does she harbour any negative feelings,” they added.
