Pochettino's message to Chelsea fans ahead of derby with former club Tottenham
Mauricio Pochettino wants Chelsea's fans to "believe and show trust" as the Blues continue to struggle for form.
They were beaten at Stamford Bridge once again on Saturday, losing to west London rivals Brentford, who have now won at Chelsea for the past three seasons. Pochettino's task isn't about to get any easier as he prepares to visit Tottenham and the place he once called home.
Tottenham are yet to lose this season and sit top after 10 games. They will be favourites to see off a Blues outfit who sit in the bottom half of the table. Pochettino's arrival has not yet had the desired affect but the Argentine urged the supporters to stick by his team as he detailed the reasons behind their poor results.
He said: “I think they need to be with us and I know it’s difficult to keep your feelings and it’s normal. The fans want to win and are frustrated and they show emotion but the message is to believe and to show trust in us and for sure it’s about the process of trusting and believing.
“There are so many details, what has happened (which contributed to Chelsea’s form) and you always need some luck. One of the situations that happened is the injury of Christopher Nkunku – he is a player we signed with an objective to provide the team and to help put us in a different position.

“In some games we created chances and did not score, we did not get what we deserved. I think we deserve more if we talk about our performance. We need to be more aggressive. In the last game we created chances and we were better than Brentford who blocked very low. It’s not enough and we need to criticise ourselves at the moment.”

They have shown signs of optimism though, proving to be a match for both Liverpool and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
Pochettino has never faced Tottenham since leaving in 2019. He was adored by the club's fans having mounted their best ever Premier League title charge and taking them to the Champions League final - heights the club have not scaled since his departure.
