Emmerdale's Aaron's real life from bitter Hollyoaks star split to family man
As regular Emmerdale viewers will no doubt know by now, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) is back with a bang in the village after a two-year absence, with shocking scenes revealing that Aaron was, in fact, the mystery hostage being held by uncles Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Caleb Miligan (William Ash).
Fans can expect to see a very different side to Aaron this time around, however, with the death of his sister Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) bringing out a "slightly darker" part of his personality, as revealed by series producer Laura Shaw. Speaking with the Mirror and other members of the press, Laura promised "explosive" scenes ahead for Aaron, who will be "lashing out at the world" amid his grief.
With yet more stormy times ahead, we take a look at actor Danny's life away from the Dales, from his acrimonious split from a Hollyoaks actress to his happy marriage with his midwife love he's known since his school days.
Viewers were left stunned by Aaron's recent returnTense break-up with Hollyoaks star
Danny, 32, was previously involved in a five-year on-off relationship with fellow actor Kirsty-Leigh Porter, who is best known for playing Leela Lomax in Hollyoaks. The pair first locked eyes on the Emmerdale set in 2010, back when Kirsty-Leigh was playing strong-willed Roz Fielding in the ITV soap, but things allegedly became complicated pretty quickly.
The Sun reports that the couple broke up several times over the course of their relationship, amid allegations of infidelity on Danny's part. They eventually called it a day in 2016, after Kirsty-Leigh allegedly discovered that Danny had slept with a sex worker. A source told the publication at the time: "Kirsty-Leigh was devastated. It's no secret that their relationship was at times a very difficult one, but last year was great for them. Danny won an award for Best Soap Actor in September, and they went on a lovely holiday to Lanzarote after that. It was when they got back that Kirsty-Leigh heard what people were saying and moved out of their home. As far as she is concerned, this really is the end."
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likeness
Kirsty-Leigh appears to have referenced this particular episode while commenting on the often tempestuous relationship between Khloe Kardashian and her ex-husband Lamar Odom. Making her thoughts on unfaithful partners crystal clear, Kirsty-Leigh tweeted: "Last time my ex went on a bender & slept with prostitutes I dumped his a**! #CallMeOldFashioned."
On top of this, The Sun also reports that Danny cheated on Kirsty-Leigh with Emmerdale co-star, Isabel Hodgins, who plays Victoria Barton. It was reported that, during the time of their alleged affair, Isabel was in a relationship with fellow cast member Michael Parr, who plays Ross Barton, with revelations of their secret romance sparking apparent fury on set. Danny has never commented on either rumour.
Marriage to childhood sweetheart
Danny, who is originally from Stockport, married midwife Steph Jones in July 2022, following a dreamy beachside proposal in St Lucia in January 2021, when the soap star got down on one knee over a romantic candlelit dinner for two. The happy couple, who initially met in primary school before reconnecting in 2019, tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony held at the Nunsmere Hall Hotel in the heart of the Cheshire countryside.
A number of Emmerdale stars were present as the pair exchanged their vows, as was their adorable nine-month-old son Albert, who was pulled up the aisle in a white cart decked out with floral arrangements and a sweet wooden heart bearing the message: "Daddy here comes Mummy."
Speaking with OK! magazine at the time, Danny revealed: "I felt overwhelmed, but it was more with happiness. I didn't want to not be able to control my emotions as it was Steph's moment, but there were some tears later on." Danny and Steph went on to welcome their second child in August, a little girl named Edith.
In an Instagram post announcing Edith's birth, overjoyed mum Steph wrote: "Twice the worry, twice the love, twice the joy. We feel so lucky right now."
