New details of Matthew Perry's death are bringing a whole new level of tragedy to his unexpected end.

The late actor died on Saturday, aged 54. Now it's been reported that the late actor's body wasn't in the hot tub for long before he was found dead - adding to the tragedy. Law enforcement sources say they know this because his body was not waterlogged when first responders arrived at his home in California and declared him dead at the scene.

The Friends star is said to have been alone when he died, with his assistant having reportedly been out on an errand at the time, according to TMZ. When the assistant returned, Matthew was found underwater and they were able to "bring him above water," however, he was "unresponsive."

The Los Angeles Fire Department recently released a statement that Matthew was "repositioned" by his assistant. A spokesperson for the LAFD told The Mirror: "Los Angeles City Firefighters responded to the 18000 block of West Blue Sail Drive at 4:07 PM on October 28, 2023, to find an adult male unconscious in a stand-alone hot tub.

"A bystander had brought the man's head above the water and gotten him to the edge, then Firefighters removed him from the water upon their arrival. A rapid medical assessment, sadly, revealed the man was deceased prior to first responder arrival.

"The circumstances are under investigation by LAPD and the LA County Medical Examiner. We mourn with families and friends who lose a loved one unexpectedly."

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that prescription drugs were found in his home, reporting that authorities “found antidepressants, anti-anxiety drugs and a COPD drug in the house”.

Matthew will also be known for his brave and honest account of battling numerous addictions at the height of his fame. Speaking in his autobiography last year, Perry revealed he almost died numerous times and spent millions of dollars in a desperate bid to stay clean. Matthew once said he could never watch Friends because he could tell what substance he was using at the time of filming.
