Nine people have been rushed to hospital after a Range Rover crashed and hit pedestrians at a bus stop in Central London.

Eight people were waiting at a bus stop in Aldwych at around 3.30am on Sunday when the car left the road, injuring them and the driver. Police say a man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Details about the pedestrians have not been released yet - and their condition, or the extent of their injuries, are not known. The Metropolitan Police said they are not treating the incident as terror-related and enquiries are ongoing.

Aldwych is still closed in both directions between Waterloo Bridge and Kingsway, with a police cordon in place, reports MyLondon. The busy road runs between the Strand, near Temple and Holborn Tube stations.

Pictures from the scene show the vehicle spread across the pavement with debris littered around. Photos show that the car appears to be sticking out of the shattered bus stop.
