Rob McElhenney hailed Wrexham for the impact owning the club has had on his life after hitting the two-year mark as co-chairman - and his players rewarded him with the best kind of anniversary present.

The Hollywood superstar has helped to mastermind the Red Dragons' rise back to the EFL alongside fellow A-Lister Ryan Reynolds. After placing trust in head coach Phil Parkinson to guide the team to promotion to League Two last term, the pair's beloved team are adjusting well to life in the fourth tier.

And it would appear that helping the club is still as exhilarating a challenge as ever for the world-famous actors, as they celebrate two years as chairmen at the Racecourse Ground. In the case of McElhenney, he did not hold back as he looked back on a remarkable spell in charge in North Wales.

Wrexham's official Instagram posted a picture of the co-owners together, to mark the anniversary, alongside the caption: "Two years to the day since we welcomed our Co-Chairmen Rob McElhennney and Ryan Reynolds to Wrexham for the very first time."

McElhenney would duly repost the snap and reveal that the past couple of years have been 'the best' of his life. Following on from this, his business partner Reynolds would also acknowledge the anniversary on his Twitter/ X page.

He reposted Wrexham's Twitter/ X account hailing the anniversary with the same picture and with the caption: "It’s fair to say we’ve all come a long way since."

The Dragons' players marked the special day by getting one over on last year's promotion rivals Notts County with a crucial 2-0 win on the road. Parkinson's men scored twice in quick succession through Elliot Lee and Ollie Palmer to down their old nemeses in an impressive away victory.

The result maintains the Welsh outfit's place in third in the League Two standings, while also drawing level on points with their opponents in second place. Wrexham are now unbeaten in their last five league outings as they continue to chase back-to-back promotions.

The team's co-owners were clearly impressed with what they saw from their team, with both Reynolds and McElhenney praising the team in the aftermath of the win. In the case of the former, he take to Twitter to post: "HUGE WIN AWAY. What an effort. Loved seeing Ben Tozer back on the pitch. LFG."

McElhenney, meanwhile, was a little more reserved in his commendation of the team, as he he followed up his co-owners words with a simple three-word message. In a post to his 1.1 million Twitter/ X followers, he said: "Stars gonna star."
