I have tried a handful of subscription boxes now, and I love a couple of brands for a whole bunch of reasons. allplants contacted our team to see if we would like to try their new collaboration with no other than renowned chef and cookbook author, Rachel Ama.

Launching on the 20th September, this partnership with Rachel is the debut of allplants’ new Chef-in-Residence programme. Top-tier chefs gain exclusive access to the allplants’ kitchen to create a limited-edition collection of meals that showcase their chefmanship and the exciting diversity of plant-based cuisine.

Including West African Peanut Stew and Chimichurri Portobello Mushroom Bowl, all of the meals in this new range reflect Rachel’s heritage and travels. The dishes are based on Rachel’s most loved and viral recipes, showcasing global flavours while upholding all of allplants’ nutritional quality.

Here I tried some of the popular recipes and, it's easy to say I was pleasantly surprised by what the collection has to offer.

There are plenty of food subscription boxes out there which are vegan and dairy friendly- but, I had seen so much good stuff about allplants in general that this seemed the best place to start. allplants offer plant-based meals in a variation of choices- autumn dishes, buddha bowls, pastas and risottos and bestsellers.

I had the joy of trying out four tasty dishes- Chimmichurri portobello mushroom bowl, Smoked aubergine & walnut ragu, and the Double green orecchiette and the West African peanut stew.

I have tasted all and was not very fond of one- but, I can easily rate my favourite a 5/5.

I tried allplants x Rachel Ama collection that has incredibly moreish mealsThe West African peanut stew is tasty but not my favourite of the bunch- it is packed with so much flavour but I didn't enjoy the hint of spices (I weren't expecting it to be so spicy!)

The meal that I wasn't massively into was the aubergine & walnut ragu and this is simply because of personal preference. When I have anything with aubergine in it is a love or hate relationship usually- it just wasn't tasty enough for my liking.

But, and it's a huge but, the Chimmichurri portobello mushroom bowl is exquisite. Everything just works.... the cayenne & paprika mash compliments the smokey Chimmichurri flavoured mushrooms perfectly.

And, if you are looking for a fresh lunch option, the Double green orecchiette is perfect. It's fresh, tangy and so vibrant (the pictures on the website and my pictures did it no justice!)

For those who don't need to consider plant-based options, we have been looking at various food subscription packages you can find online- including Gousto, Hellofresh and MindfulChef. It's great that there are so many varieties now for all.

Verdict

But, while I've been focusing on sticking to many of my meals being plant-based, the allplants x Rachel Ama collection has been a great option for me to try different flavours and get some ideas for my own recipes at home, too. It's absolutely worth the price- with the majority of the larger dishes being between £6-£8, they are a bargain in comparison to your average restaurant meal out.
