American hitmaker Rebecca Black looks completely unrecognisable 12 years after she released her hit song Friday, and her new look will seriously leave you with your jaw on the floor.

California-based Rebecca, who is now 26 years of age, shot to global fame back in 2011 when the music video for her debut single Friday went viral on YouTube and various social media platforms. The hit song, which has amassed more than 168million views on YouTube, divided fans and critics thanks to its bubblegum pop vibes.

When the song and accompanying music video came out, Rebecca was left upset and in tears. Just 13 years of age at the time, the harsh comments really got to her, especially when learning it was branded as "the worst song ever".

Speaking to NPR about how she had "struggled", she said: "Millions of people having awareness that you exist as a teenager is really complicated, and something I didn't really understand. And probably still don't understand now. I've struggled a lot, as somebody who's grown into who I am now."

But despite the hate the song received more than a decade ago, the comments section for the music video on YouTube is filled with so much positivity and praise for the young star. One recently penned: "I still remember this song after so many years. People can hate if they want but I think she killed it. It takes courage to put yourself out there and all deal with backlash."

While another said: "It's amazing how much she improved since this song, and how resilient she's been in all the hate." And a third penned: "It's funny how much this song got blown out of proportion back then. It's really not even that bad, the lyrics are little dopey but it's about what I'd expect from a kid her age at the time. Now I just pop back in sometimes and listen for nostalgia."

And it isn't just Rebecca's fans that have made a complete U-turn, because the young star herself has too. Looking worlds away from the 13-year-old girl singing the pop hit back in 2011, Rebecca is now 26 years of age and has changed her style entirely.

More edgy than ever before, Rebecca can be seen online wearing some very daring ensembles. A recent snap sees her sporting some knee-high black leather boots, all while showing off her intricate tattoos that are apparent on her arms and thighs.

Rebecca's appearance isn't the only thing that's changed though, because she's changed up her music style too. In February, she released her debut album Let Her Burn. With 10 tracks in total, the album was met with rave reviews and was even followed with a hotly-anticipated tour.

In 2020 Rebecca came out as queer. And according to reports, as of earlier this year, the singer was in a relationship with a music producer "a couple of years older".
