Strict rule means Royal Family never allowed to celebrate Halloween in public
Halloween has become more and more popular in the UK and this notion also spreads among the Royal Family. However, unlike the rest of Brits, there is a strict rule in place which stops royals from celebrating the spooky occasion in public.
The American tradition is kept up by Prince William and Kate Middleton and their children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. But the Cambridges enjoy the season behind closed doors.
Despite Queen Elizabeth being ok with celebrating Halloween, Alexandrina Victoria, who ruled from 1837 to 1901, announced a strict code of conduct surrounding all scary things linked to October 31.

This means that the royal family should have complete self-respect and good behaviour when in front of the general public, which includes not dressing up for Halloween, Elite Daily reports. However, this hasn’t stopped some of the royals dressing up from time to time.
Queen Elizabeth has even sported a costume or two in her time, including when she dressed up for a performance of Cinderella at Windsor Castle in 1941. But she stopped wearing costumes after being crowned in 1952. In some royal costume controversy, the Duke of Sussex infamously attended a costume party in London dressed in a Nazi uniform. This has very likely added to the Royal Family's lack of public-facing Halloween celebrations.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry previously celebrated with Princess Eugenie and her now-husband Jack. The mum-of-two recalled their night out at Soho House in Toronto in 2016. Meghan and Harry purchased Venetian-style masks so they could go to the party in secret. Speaking on the Ellen Show, she previously said: "He [Harry] came to see me in Toronto and our friends and his cousin Eugenie and now her husband Jack, they came as well. "And the four of us snuck out in Halloween costumes to just have one fun night on the town before it was out in the world that we were a couple." In response, Ellen said: "So you went with Harry to a Halloween party and they had no idea it was the two of you?" Meghan confirmed this and added: "It was a post-apocalypse theme. So we had all this very bizarre costuming on and we were able to just sort of have one final fun night out."
