Flights at UK airport grounded after crash as passengers describe 'chaos'
Flights at Bristol Airport are being delayed due to a serious crash. Part of the A38, the main route to the airport, has been shut by police following the collision between two vehicles in the early hours of Saturday.
Bristol Airport confirmed that some flights were grounded because the crash caused "delays to passengers, staff and our own shuttle buses". Flights due to take off before 8am were delayed, although planes are now taking off and landing at the airport.
In a statement a Bristol Airport spokesperson said: "Flights will not take off from Bristol Airport this morning until 8am. We’ve made this decision because the A38 is closed between the two airport roundabouts following a serious road traffic collision, causing delays to passengers, staff, and our own shuttle buses.
"Passengers flying this morning are advised to leave extra time to travel to the airport and check their flight details with their airline. The latest information on departures will be available on our website.”

Some flights are being delayed more than others, although planes are now taking off, reports Bristol Live. It's expected the delays will continue throughout the day and passengers have been advised to leave plenty of time when arriving at the airport.
Some passengers have taken to social media to describe the "chaos" at the airport. One said: "Total chaos @BristolAirport after road closures. Distinct lack of communication, lots of very stressed families." The same person added: "It’s an absolute shambles- staff are trying their best, we all hope that no one was hurt in the accident, I just wish people in large organisations understood the importance of communication, not just the initial announcements."
Another said: "What's going on! We are stuck in complete gridlock and have been told silver zone is closed. We are going to miss our flight! No one is telling us anything."
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that they were called to reports of a crash at around 1am. It is not known if anyone was injured,
