Strictly's Giovanni Pernice makes It Takes Two appearance after Amanda exit

Strictly Come Dancing's Giovanni Pernice made a brief appearance on Friday's It Takes Two after his celebrity partner, Amanda Abbington, quit the show earlier this week.

During the spin-off show on Friday, the professional dancers had to take part in "what's the answer dancer?", where they were asked questions about their co-stars and had to share their answers. In a pre-recorded video, Giovanni, 33, made a brief appearance as he answered a question about Katya Jones alongside his fellow pro dancers.

It comes as Giovanni had been partnered with Amanda, 51, on the BBC One dance competition but she left the nation shocked earlier this week when it emerged she had quit after previously missing last weekend's live shows due to "medical reasons". Although the pair had been at the centre of feud rumours, they had previously been keen to shut these down.

Giovanni was said to have been given no prior warning to the shock decision that was announced earlier in the week. Fans have also noticed that Amanda failed to mention her dancing partner as she took to social media to break her silence and explain her "deepest regret" for withdrawing, with many taking this as a sign of a feud. However, the pair had previously silenced any feud claims earlier in the series, with Amanda at the time branding them "bulls**t" before adding they were "b****cks".

The news of her exit from Strictly was revealed on the spin-off show It Takes Two earlier this week. Host, Fleur East, announced Amanda and Giovanni’s exit from the show, saying: "Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future."

Giovanni paid tribute to her when it was announced she was leaving the show. He shared a gushing post about the actress with an adorable snap of the pair. Taking to Instagram, he said: "Amanda... I am so sad we can't continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love. @amanda_abbington74 @bbcstrictly," alongside a heart.

But Amanda made no reference to him as she told fans it was with "deep regret" that she was pulling out of the competition. She told her fans: "It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons, I am unable to continue. It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside.

"I want to thank the incredible Production team and everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring. It's a wonderful bunch of people and I'll miss all of them. I'm so sad that I am unable to go any further. Thank you to everyone who voted and who sent wonderful messages and inspiring support. You are all amazing. Truly. Thank you."
