It's hard, and a little scary, to believe that the film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone premiered on November 16, 2001, nearly 22 years ago. However, it seems as though there are still a few details about the movie franchise being discovered by Potterheads.

No matter how many times you watch them, it always seems like there's something to see or learn, as fans have recently spotted another little Easter egg in the very first film. In one of the scenes, when Harry first gets the letter from Hogwarts, Aunt Petunia can be seen in the background of the kitchen stirring something on the hob.

Fans of the books will most likely have guessed what she's doing, however, it's never explicitly mentioned in the films. But over on Reddit, fans are now pointing out what she is actually up to.

One Harry Potter lover shared a fun fact with fellow fans, writing: "In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's (Sorcerer's) Stone, Aunt Petunia is visible in the background of this scene dyeing Dudley's old clothes grey for Harry's uniform. This is only ever mentioned in the book."

While Mr Dursley is busy with his mail and Harry is admiring the Hogwarts envelope with his name on it, you can see Aunt Petunia in the background stirring a pile of clothes in a big pot. In the original book, the Dursleys had planned to send Harry to a muggle school - Stonewall High - not Dudley's fancy Smeltings Academy.

Thankfully, for Harry's fashion sense and the greater wizarding world, his letter from Hogwarts arrived just in time, saving him from having to wear the ugly uniform that looked like "elephant skin".

Harry Potter fans were surprised when they learned about this hidden detail, amazed they hadn't noticed it before. One fan replied: "The amount of times I have seen this movie is crazy, and I've read the book once, absolutely loved it, and yet I didn't even notice this. That's actually really cool!! Just wish they kept Peeves in the film!"

Another fan wrote: "Remember when the movies were this true to the books? Good times." And a third Potterhead added: "I always wondered what she was doing, I'd clearly forgotten that detail between reading the book and watching the film."

Only recently, Harry Potter fans were left cackling out loud when Americans began discussing British things they thought were magical. These include treacle tart, Christmas crackers, and train snack trolleys.

Wizarding fans also admitted they thought rock cakes were something that had been made up because Hagrid was so awful at cooking. One said: "I was convinced it was just that Hagrid makes cakes that happened to be rock hard, so Harry nicknamed them rock cakes.' Adding: 'They're actually rock hard rock cakes?!" In reality, rock cakes are a light, crumbly tea-time treat that many British students will have had the pleasure of eating at school.
