Lionel Messi impact at Inter Miami is even leaving David Beckham embarrassed
Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham seemingly found it difficult to get his hands on a Lionel Messi jersey after the star signed for the club.
Messi joined Miami as a free agent in July after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired. The 36-year-old has gone on to become one of the biggest stars in Major League Soccer since his arrival.
It was only in December that Messi played a key role in helping Argentina win the World Cup in Qatar for the first time since 1986 and just months later, Miami secured one of the biggest signings in MLS history with Messi’s move to South Florida.
The signing of the Argentina captain led to a significant increase in demand for Miami jerseys and cccording to , Beckham himself found it difficult to get his hands on one.

Beckham was forced to wait to get a ‘Messi 10’ Miami jersey to send as gifts to friends and family. This was reportedly due to Adidas selling out of the jerseys in a quicker time than the manufacturer was able to make.
Messi’s start to life in the US began almost perfectly when he scored a stoppage-time free-kick against Cruz Azul on July 22 in the first game in the Leagues Cup a competition Miami went on to win, with Messi scoring 10 goals in his seven appearances.
In terms of the MLS, Messi made his debut on August 27 against the New York Red Bulls. The former Barcelona star scored in a 2-0 win, with what would go on to be his only goal in MLS in his maiden season in Miami.
Miami finished the 2023 MLS season in 14th place in the Eastern Conference, missing out on the play-offs by nine points. Messi and Co. will now look ahead to next season which is due to begin either at the end of February or early March.
After Miami’s season was officially concluded, Beckham took to Instagram to thank the players, staff, and fans for their work and support throughout the campaign. The Manchester United legend also went on to look ahead to the 2024 season with Miami.
