GMB viewers demand Richard Madeley taken off air after 'tactless chat'

Good Morning Britain viewers slammed Richard Madeley for having 'zero tact' during a recent interview with a Coronation Street star.

Many have asked for him to be 'taken off air' after there was a discussion about Corrie's latest storyline about Motor Neurone Disease. Soap star Peter Ash, 38, who plays Paul Foreman on the ITV soap, alongside Sam Hayden-Harler, who was diagnosed with the disease when he was 35.

Sam has been helping Peter with the role which sees his character get married before finding out he has around a year to live after being diagnosed with MND. On GMB, Richard wanted to know how Sam's been assisting with the role. "Peter, let's get down to the nitty-gritty, what does he show you to do in terms of movement?" the host asked.

Richard continued: "What I mean is does he come to your dressing room and say, 'At this stage, you walk like this?'" Co-host Kate Garraway was quick to intercept the conversation and explained: "No, no, not quite like that." Pete, on the other hand, looked baffled before replying: "He has been a very big help to the storyline."

Fans were less than impressed with the presenter and rushed to social media to slam him for having 'zero tact'. One user said: "Madeley needs to be taken off air. He has zero tact." Another shocked user added: "Did Richard just say 'Does he go to your dressing room and say you have to walk like this'."

One disappointed viewer wrote: "Richard Madeley has the sensitivity of a wrecking ball! Why do the powers that be at #GMB allow this idiot anywhere near such sensitive topics??" Another shocked fan commented: "How cringeworthy is Madeley? How can he get things so wrong so many times."

It's not the first time fans complained about Richard's style of questioning. The series was recently hit with 2,300 Ofcom complaints after Richard asked British-Palestinian MP Layla Moran if she had any intel on the recent Hamas terror attack against Israel. Laya was on the ITV daytime TV programme while her family were trapped in Gaza.

However, one question from Richard left Laya completely taken aback as he asked whether she knew what was happening in Gaza before the actions took place. However, in a statement later the same day, the star apologised while a spokesperson for the programme claimed his comments were to "understand the mood and atmosphere" of the situation in Gaza.

It was recently confirmed that broadcasting watchdog Ofcom received 2,378 complaints over the presenter's insensitive comments.
