Strictly's Giovanni Pernice looks downcast after Amanda Abbington snub

Giovanni Pernice appeared to be sad as he went about his evening on Wednesday following Amanda Abbington's snub towards him.

The Strictly Come Dancing professional had been partnered with the Mr Selfridge actress on the BBC competition but she left the nation shocked when it emerged she had pulled out. Although the pair had been at the centre of feud rumours, they had previously been keen to shut these down.

Giovanni, 33, was said to have been given no prior warning to the shock decision that was announced earlier in the week. Fans have also noticed that Amanda failed to mention her dancing partner as she took to social media to break her silence and explain her "deepest regret" for withdrawing, with many taking this as a sign of a feud.

On Wednesday, the dancer was spotted out and about in London as he jumped on an e-scooter to go about his night but he looked rather downcast. Wearing an Adidas puffer jacket, Giovanni put his hood up. As he hopped on the Lime scooter, he placed wired headphones into his ears in order to escape the hustle and bustle of the capital city.

Prior to her exit, Amanda was believed to be feeling miserable over Giovanni's "aggressive training style and attitude", with a source telling The Sun that his teaching methods can be "incredible brusque" and upset his partners, with Amanda allegedly finding rehearsals difficult despite wanting to work with him. A source later told the Daily Star that Amanda was "fed up" with the programme.

They added that he had barely heard from the mum-of-two in ten days and he only discovered she had left the show when a producer had called to give him the news. The pair had previously silenced the feud claims, with Amanda branding them "bulls**t" before adding they were "b****cks".

The news of her exit from Strictly was revealed on the spin-off show It Takes Two, hours after news broke online that she had opted to pull out of the series. It Takes Two host, Fleur East, announced Amanda and Giovanni’s exit from the show, saying: "Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future."

Giovanni paid tribute to her when it was announced she was leaving the show. He shared a gushing post about the actress with an adorable snap of the pair. Taking to Instagram, he said: "Amanda... I am so sad we can't continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love. @amanda_abbington74 @bbcstrictly," alongside a heart.

But Amanda made no reference to him as she told fans it was with "deep regret" that she was pulling out of the competition. She told her fans: "It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons, I am unable to continue. It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside. ]

"I want to thank the incredible Production team and everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring. It's a wonderful bunch of people and I'll miss all of them. I'm so sad that I am unable to go any further. Thank you to everyone who voted and who sent wonderful messages and inspiring support. You are all amazing. Truly. Thank you."
