Coleen and Wayne Rooney put on united front after laying bare marriage woes
Coleen and Wayne Rooney looked every bit the happy couple in a new social media post, despite highlighting their marriage woes on Disney+' documentary, Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story.
The couple, who first met as teenagers in Liverpool before marrying in 2008, have survived endless drama and scandals. Wayne has been accused of cheating with numerous women and the impact was laid bare in the TV documentary. After detailing some of the pair's most tricky times, including their move to America, Coleen and Wayne appeared happier than ever in a new upload on Instagram. Sharing from her account, Coleen gushed over her husband, sharing a smiling meal snap.

Wayne was recently celebrating his 38th birthday (Instagram)The two appeared to cuddle at the dinner table, enjoying each other's company as the two sat down for a lavish meal at what appeared to be a posh restaurant for Wayne's 38th birthday. "Happy Birthday @waynerooney. So nice to have you home to celebrate together," she penned.
Fans flocked to the post's comments section after thinking the snap was intended for Coleen's "personal page". One wrote: "Wait did we all get upgraded to the personal one?" While someone else joked: "It's…..Coleen's private account."
Speaking in her new Disney+ documentary The Real Wagatha Story, an emotional Coleen opens up about how Wayne's notorious night with 'party-girl' Laura Simpson inadvertently started the Wagatha Christie scandal. The mum fled to her parents with her kids after Wayne was arrested for drink-driving in 2017, after he was pulled over by police while driving Laura in her VW.

When a photo Coleen shared of Wayne back in their marital bed posted after the scandal to her private Instagram was leaked in The Sun, the mum-of-five first became suspicious that someone in her circle was profiting from her heartache. In her new three-part series, Coleen said the leak was particularly hurtful as she was battling with thoughts of leaving her marriage for the first time. However, despite her devastation with Wayne, Coleen admits that ultimately she decided to stay and fight.
When Wayne was offered a contract with Washington-based DC United in 2008. While the Manchester United and Everton striker appeared overjoyed in the documentary to continue his club career, signing autographs of adoring fans, one person who was less than impressed with the move was wife Coleen.
Self-confessed 'homebod' Coleen made the move with her four children Kai, Cass, Klay and nine, so the family could try and stay close after Wayne's latest scandal. While her parents also stayed for the first month of the re-location, Coleen was left alone when they left – leaving her with long days at home alone while her boys were at school. Coleen: said: "When I was living in America, even though we had Wayne and the kids, there's no one else close by. And it was just our little family there in that big country. I felt so lonely. I've always thought there's no such thing as homesickness. I was homesick."
She went on: "Because of the things that have happened to my life, I try and be strong for others. I don't want people worrying about me when they've got their own worries in life. But sometimes I can crack." Her low mood had not got unnoticed by Wayne who tells the camera, "Coleen was down and upset. She was in a difficult place."
