Deontay Wilder issues stern call-out to Anthony Joshua in bid to make fight
Deontay Wilder has told Anthony Joshua it would be a "major disaster" if they failed to agree to a mega-fight.
A fight between former world champions Joshua and Wilder has been talked about for several years but the two knockout artists are yet to agree to a deal to meet in the ring. Fans were hoping the fight would take place on the same event as Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk, but that seems unlikely as the undisputed clash has already been verbally agreed to take place on December 23.
Joshua gave an update on the Wilder fight whilst speaking at the United States Formula One Grand Prix in Texas last weekend, admitting that it likely won't take place until March or April. Wilder sent a message to his British rival in response and insisted that he is ready to fight right now.

“I promise you guys I will be back very soon," Wilder said. "I’m doing everything in my power to make it happen, so Anthony you can hear this personally from the horse’s mouth itself. I’m here and ready to go. I heard some things your promoter said about how I’ve not fought in a year and he doesn’t know if I want to fight or not.
Deontay Wilder offers advice to Manny Pacquiao's son ahead of latest fight
I’m letting you know right now, right here, I’m ready to fight and get in that ring. Let’s make this the best time of our lives. This will be a major disaster if we would never be able to get in the ring and put our stamp down in history. When people think about classic or great fights, I want them to think about us as well.
"To be able to do that, we’ve got to get in the ring. That’s what it’s all about. The silliest thing I’ve heard is that people say you’re not ready. I don’t believe that, I believe you’re ready and I hope you’re ready. Let’s make this happen, me and you. Let’s make history happen."
Wilder hasn't fought since knocking out Robert Helenius in less than three minutes last October whilst Joshua's most recent win also came against the Icelander in August. Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn has admitted they could try and book another fight for 'AJ' before facing Wilder in the hopes of keeping him active.
