Loose Women star Coleen Nolan was bursting with pride as she told viewers that her daughter-in-law Madeleine Roche won Miss Great Britain over the weekend.

The 58 year old TV presenter appeared on the daytime show wearing a crown and a sash in tribute to her son Shane's wife. She revealed: "I’m the most proud mother in law, because my daughter in law won Miss Great Britain. We were all there to support her and screaming. I’m surprised we weren’t asked to leave!" The programmed then showed viewers a clip of the moment her daughter-in-law was given the coveted title.

Coleen said: "That was her when she was announced. My son, at that moment, as soon as they said her name, he just fell back in his chair and sobbed his eyes out.” Shane Nolan is the son of Coleen and EastEnders star Shane Richie. Madeleine's win has even more of a special element to it as the 33 year old beauty queen made history as the first mixed race woman to win the competition and it was also her fifth time entering the competition.

On receiving her crown, she thanked her husband Shane for his support saying on social media: "Firstly, my amazing husband @iamshanenolan, or in his own words, 'the new Mr Great Britain'. Thank you for always supporting me and loving me in everything I do. You've never once tried to deter me from going after my dreams, you're my biggest fan, and I love you so much!"

Madeleine has now said that she plans to use her title to become involved in international charities in a bid to pay homage to her heritage. She plans to take a trip to Jordan to help those living in a Palestinian refugee camp. This seems to hold a place in her heart as it's the same one her grandparents lived in when they escaped the war in the 1960s. Larissa Palmer-Hirst, from South London, and Gina Broadhurst, from Surrey, also took the other titles on offer from the competition.

Coleen and her sisters recently appeared at the official unveiling of their blue plaque which has been installed at the Cliffs Hotel in Blackpool to celebrate 50 years of the ground. The venue holds a special place in the hearts of the sisters after they were spotted by an industry figure back on Christmas Day in 1973. Coleen said: "I found out all our nieces and nephews clubbed together and paid for the whole thing. So it was really, really an emotional day, you know as well as to have Linda there, and she looked great as well."

She went on to reveal that she took a trip down memory lane after photos were laid out of the band from when they were younger. She continued: "They'd done the room up and printed out about 300 photos of us, my kids, from when we were little and we were performing on stage, oh my goodness."
