The New York Giants reportedly have no plans to trade Saquon Barkley before this month’s deadline.

NFL teams have until October 31 to agree to any final trades this season, which will be the only opportunity to add or remove players from their rosters this season. Barkley is one player who has been linked with a trade even before the season began.

That speculation has continued into the season, with the Giants recently facing the Washington Commanders in Week 7 of the 2023 NFL regular season. Even though the season is several weeks old, Barkley has continued to be linked with a trade, although it seems the 26-year-old will not be leaving the NFC East franchise.

According to , the Giants have no plans to trade Barkley before the October 31 deadline. As a result, it seems that the two-time Pro-Bowler will continue to play his football for the Giants at least until the end of the season. Barkley was asked about the possibility of being traded away from the Giants after the win against Washington on Sunday. The running back reiterated his desire to remain at MetLife Stadium but also made clear his feelings on his future with the franchise.

"No, it never crossed my mind," Barkley told when asked if he had thought about being traded by the Giants. "Obviously, I've been public and vocal about how I feel about this organisation and where I want to be. "But like I said, knowing the business and seeing that side of it, there are a lot of things that I can't control. Sitting here, everyone knows how I feel. Everyone knows I don't want to get traded.

“I don't think anybody in their right mind would want to get traded anywhere. It's not an easy thing to do, you've got to move, I have a family. I would love to be here but like I said, it's not in my control. My focus is to be the leader I can be for this team to try to get this thing on the right track."

Barkley was handed the franchise tag by the Giants in the early months of the off-season, which was initially rejected by the running back. What followed was several weeks of speculation intensified by the player initially not signing the tag.

Eventually, Barkley would sign a one-year deal for the 2023 season with the Giants worth $11 million (£9m). Barkley missed three games this season with an ankle injury he sustained against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2, and has scored one touchdown with 284 total rushing yards from 74 carries.
