Parents disclose 'pettiest' reasons for not sending kids to prospective schools
Parents have been sharing the sillier reasons why they decided not to send their children to prospective schools. Lessons will certainly be learned, with excuses leaping from the perfectly logical to A-grade irrationality.
An eclectic range of stories were shared under a post titled ‘Petty Incident or Detail That Turned You Off a School’ on the Urban Moms and Dads forum, with one anonymous user taking a stand over the school’s paint job. They said: “I didn’t like the colour of the front door, withdrew the app!”
Time, meanwhile, really was of the essence for another, who got royally ticked off when they spotted something amiss in the classroom. Another user said: “I entered a third-grade classroom on a tour and noted the wall clock was stopped by five hours – I thought it showed a lack of care on the teacher’s part to leave it stopped."

A fellow parent added that, no whiffs or buts, they smelled trouble whilst walking past the unnamed school’s cafeteria. "It smelled so badly that I became faint and swayed on my feet. I never was able to match the smell to any specific meal – it was spicy and burned and metallic all at once,” they recalled.

Meanwhile, the writing was almost on the wall for one after they struggled to get their head around the institution’s choice of font. ‘I hate the font of our school. All three of my kids went/go there, and we otherwise love the school, but ten years on I still hate that stupid font,’ they said.
