A woman is outraged after seeing the dress her sister planning on wearing to their cousin's wedding - and now she's begging her sibling to choose a different frock.

We all know the unwritten rule that wearing white - or any other pale-coloured long dress - to a wedding is disrespectful, so the woman was seriously mortified when her sister revealed she was planning on wearing a long white gown, that even has a train too.

Frustrated by her sister's ignorance, the woman felt compelled to show the bride the dress in question, and unsurprisingly she was livid with the choice.

"My mum ordered a dress for my sister that is almost white and super long, it even has a long train. So I tell [sic] my mum and my sister that she can't wear that dress and my mum and sisters start blowing me up about how it's what my sister wants. It's her body she's gonna wear what she wants to wear," the anonymous sister said on Reddit, according to the Metro.

However, her mum and sister defended the dress choice and claimed they never knew about the dress code ettiquette. The post further detailed: "[My mum and sister say] they never heard the rule that you can't wear colours that look like white to a wedding [sic]. Now they're mad at me for apparently not having their back and they got other family members involved."

She explained that the bride is stressed over the dress and is even mad at her too. Asking others if she was in the wrong, she found herself inundated with support from gobsmacked readers. One person wrote: "Your mother and sister either lived their entire lives inside a jam jar or are lying through their teeth. Not wearing white or colours too close to white is the most basic etiquette for weddings." While another wrote: "Seriously inappropriate. I don't get how they don't see it as inappropriate. The bride is going to be upset if she wears that dress."

Others encouraged the sister to speak to the bride and figure out out what to do to avoid any awkwardness on the big day. Whereas another Reddit user pointed out that it may be a cultural dilemma as not everyone wears white at weddings.
