With spooky season upon us, you may want to find somewhere that puts shivers down your spine. From haunted halls to ancient castles, the UK has plenty of old, creaky buildings that are sure to help your imagination run away with itself.
Below are some of the creepiest Airbnb stays currently available on the platform. While none of them have a poltergeist or paranormal guarantee, if you dim the lights down to the correct level and line-up a few true crime podcasts, there's no reason you can't scare yourself into a stupor.

Ross Castle has a 500-year-old keepTalliston House and Gardens was once an ordinary house in an ordinary street, but has now been transformed into a gothic wonderland by its owner and host, John. The ‘haunted bedroom’, has been decked out in the style of an Edwardian child’s bedroom, complete with books, toys and ephemera.
"The so-called haunted room is really scary at night. However, in the middle of the day you will be charmed. The atmosphere that reigns there makes you shiver," one guest wrote following their stay.
Laura's Cottage, Savannah, Georgia, US
The hosts of Linville Manor are convinced the home is plagued by ghostsThis 18th century cottage is in the heart of Savannah, Georgia’s historic district, and is a favourite stop on local ghost tours to experience a supernatural sighting. "Have a drink on the front porch rocking chairs as you watch the horse-drawn carriages clip-clopping to City Market. Smell the jasmine from the courtyard garden on your Juliet balcony," the listing for the Airbnb tempts. Even if you don't spot anything spooky, the chance to transport yourself back to a simpler (if not more racist) time sounds pleasant.
Haunted Nights at Linville Manor, Upper Marlboro, Maryland, US
Built in 1852, this Maryland listing includes a private Ghost Tour of the home and property, complete with paranormal investigation equipment. Anyone looking for a Halloween to remember can hunt for ghosts, with a host guarantee that they are surrounded by a few spirits throughout the property. "You couldn't ask for more from a historic rental. Winn has put in so much effort to make this place special; there are incredible touches in every corner of the home. It's comfortable and clean (and spooky at night if you listen to all of Winn and Josh's ghost stories earlier in the day)," one happy guest wrote.

Stay in this unique Irish castle situated one hour from Dublin in order to experience the history and the atmosphere of a 500-year old Norman Keep. According to the host, it has been named as one of the '10 lesser-known haunted places in the world' thanks to its resident ghost, a forlorn spirit whose lover drowned in the nearby lake.

This recently restored but very atmospheric Elizabethan manor house dates from the 1400’s. The guest suite has a four-poster bed and the continental breakfast is served in the 15th century oak panelled dining room. It is rumoured that a secret passageway exists linking the building to the home of a nobleman who tried to assassinate Elizabeth I of England.

From the outside, with its Scottish baronial turrets and elaborate stonework, Dollarbeg Castle could easily be mistaken for a haunted mansion, but the inside tells a completely different story - the castle has been tastefully restored. Guests who book have access to a cosy - totally not haunted - apartment in the castle.
