Rob McElhenney has enlisted the help of Chris Pratt to pay a special tribute to Ryan Reynolds on his 47th birthday.

The 46-year-old, who is well-known for starring in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, took to X to share a hilarious video in honour of Ryan's big day. "Happy birthday, @VancityReynolds. This year I had to bring in an actual superhero... @prattprattpratt," Rob captioned the post.

In the video, Rob was seen having a meeting with Chris as he discussed his plans to create a Ryan Reynolds memorial park in Wrexham. Over the top of the video he wrote: "Parks and Wrex," making reference to Chris' time on the sitcom Parks and Recreation.

"What am I doing here?" Chris asked at the start of the clip as Rob scribbled away in his notebook. "You know how Ryan and I are always doing these elaborate things for each others birthdays?" Rob replied.

Chris pretended to know what Rob was talking about before he confessed: "I don't, I don't know but I'm excited, tell me." Rob seemed disappointed as he said Chris should have seen the clips on social media of their previous birthday surprises.

"Do I have to follow you to see that? Was it on his social media?" Chris asked. He joked: "I might have seen it if it was on his, I don't follow you." Rob insisted he has a lot of social media followers and suggested he could share his profile with Chris.

Getting back on track to discuss Ryan's birthday plans, Rob said: "This year, my idea involves a park." And then the penny seemed to drop for Chris as he said: "Oh because I was on Parks and..."

Before he could finish, the video cut to a compilation of shots of Wrexham. In a voiceover, Rob said: "Introducing the Ryan Rodney Reynolds memorial park in Wrexham, Wales. Located on the site of the old Wrexham Hippodrome, this park will be beautiful."

The video then showed computer generated images of what the park could look like. Rob continued: "We'll have open, green spaces, pop-up restaurants, we'll have movie screenings, there'll be actual green lanterns," referencing Ryan's role in the hit superhero film of the same name.

Rob said there will also be "benches for old guys to swing on" as the video showed him being pushed on a wooden swing by Ryan. He joked there will be a statue that "may or may not look like Ryan," while writing: "Hideous statue."

Rob finished his video by saying: "Happy birthday Ryan, thanks Chris. Visit ParksAndWrex.co.uk to find out more."

Fans were loving the funny clip, with one person commenting: "Oooooo now that’s a step up from last year, kudos." Another said: "Actual green lanterns I'm dying, while a third person added: "That’s really lovely. A “prank” that is actually an anouncement for an amazing community project for Wrexham. We watch the documentary and love the way it’s more than an investment for you guys. what you do for the whole of Wrexham is unreal. Well done."

Last year, Rob installed a life-size replica of Reynolds' face for his birthday at The Racecourse Ground, with players coming out the tunnel through his mouth. Ryan got his own back on Rob in April as he created a song and music video centred around how to pronounce the name 'McElhenney' following repeated incorrect attempts in the media.
