Emmerdale star reacts to Victoria and Jacob romance as they address backlash
Not everyone is against Emmerdale's latest romance, after a twist between Victoria Sugden and Jacob Gallagher.
The pair got close in recent scenes, despite Jacob's father David Metacalfe dating Victoria for months not too long ago. David is trying to win his ex back, while he has no idea she's moved on with his son.
The pair gave into their feelings in a recent episode, but they will once again get steamy next week according to new spoilers for the ITV soap. The pair spend the night together, and are almost caught by David as their romance moves to the next level.
Ahead of the romance being exposed, and with David soon to leave the show, one cast member shared their thoughts amid audience backlash. Some viewers have called out the twist, not keen on them as a couple especially because of her history with David. Some claimed the age gap was the issue, while Victoria is 29 years old and Jacob is aged 20.

Addressing the viewer backlash and comments about the couple's age gap, Ash revealed he backed the pair's possible relationship.

He told us: "I think even though there is an age gap they are quite well suited. The only thing is the David thing, there's that thing of her having been with David but hopefully she finds love anyway." He also added there wasn't much of an age gap, as he supported the possible romance.
The same couldn't be said for some viewers though who were quick to blast the storyline, but others quickly called out the hypocrisy over the age gap concern. One annoyed viewer said: "They need to stop this Victoria and Jacob thing. I’m serious."
Another called it "vile" as a viewer said: "That's disgusting." Another fan commented: "This is quite possibly the cringiest story they have ever done." Others were less quick to judge though, not seeing an issue with the romance.
One fan said: "Everyone is complaining about Jacob and Victoria and the age difference of 9 years but Mack is 19 years older than Chloe who is 21 and Mack is 40." Another wrote: "Vic is under 30. David and Vic have a bigger age difference. But that's acceptable? There's nothing wrong with this."
