Big Brother's Makosi unrecognisable with different career 18 years after romp

Big Brother has produced some memorable moments from Nikki Grahame's Diary Room outbursts to the infamous hot tub romp between Makosi Musambasi and Anthony Hutton.

Makosi went down in history following her appearance in the house during Big Brother 6 in 2005 alongside the likes of Kinga Karolczak and winner Anthony Hutton. But while her life was played out across the media for some time, Makosi's life couldn't be further from the one she led in the spotlight 18 years ago.

Having entered the house as a nurse, Maoksi made headlines after reaching the grand final as she became the first African contestant in the history of the show. While living in High Wycombe, she had been working as a cardiac nurse having graduated from the University of Luton.

During one memorable clip on the programme, Makosi was seen romping with winner Anthony in the hot tub while they were surrounded by their fellow housemates, who encouraged the behaviour. The pair began kissing one another before getting more intimate as Makosi's back was against the walls of the hot tub.

The former nurse insisted that she and Anthony had sex and, just hours later, was convinced she was pregnant and demanded a test from Big Brother. However, she was not pregnant. Speaking in 2020, Makosi revealed that the infamous scene was part of a game plan.

She told new! magazine: "It just makes me chuckle – it makes me laugh… I look at that 25-year-old Makosi and I think it was ingenious. I'd probably have a different game plan today, but that's what worked… My game plan took me right to the end." The scene, which aired on Channel 4, generated only 32 complaints to broadcasting watchdog Ofcom – a stark contrast to the 259 filed over Kinga's wine bottle fiasco.

Despite Makosi's claims that the pair had sex, Anthony refused this. He told OK! Magazine: "I found coming out of the house very surreal. Davina [McCall] immediately told me that Makosi [Musambasi] had asked for a pregnancy test and I couldn't believe it. That was the first I'd heard about it because we didn’t even have sex. I never found out why she said it."

But two weeks after appearing on the show, she was given ten days to leave the country or appeal the decision. She said: "I've entertained the nation for three months and then you come after me." She successfully appealed and applied for asylum claiming it was not safe for her to return home.

Seven years after her appearance on the show, Makosi found herself deported to Nigeria and was banned from entering the UK having tried to use a relatives passport. Nowadays, her life is very different to what it once was. Living the high life in Dubai, she describes herself as a life coach and speaker.

Over on her Instagram page, the former reality television star often shares insights into her life in the United Arab Emirates including her workouts as well as glamourous snaps and has proven she's not to be messed with on the golf course. Her snaps often include her dressed to the nines but she's also rocked various hairstyles in recent months. Recently, she sported a blonde bob which is very different to her glossy raven locks that we are used to seeing on her.

In 2017, her world was rocked when she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer which deeply impacted her confidence. Makosi underwent a mastectomy as well as chemotherapy to treat the disease. She recently said that during her time battling the disease, she lost her hair and instead of covering up, Makosi decided to keep her look extremely natural with a shaved head.

She previously said: "I lost my hair and I almost lost my identity. And when I was doing my radiation, I was looking for that thing to give me back my confidence again. Because at this point you’re looking in the mirror, you’re bald and you don’t know who this new person is. Where did the confidence go? Where did the courage go? Where did the lioness in me go?"
