Cher has vowed to leave the United States if former President Donald Trump wins the 2024 election.

During a chat about her upcoming Christmas album, the legendary singer touched on the political landscape of her home country and swore to leave if Donald Trump is placed in power again. "I almost got an ulcer the last time," she explained in a new interview.

This comes as Trump leads the race to become the Republican nominee. He also appeared in a New York Court as part of a civil case against him accusing him of fraud. The latest lawsuit could cost him control of Trump Tower and other prized properties.

"If he gets in, who knows? This time I will leave [the country]," Cher sternly added an interview with The Guardian. With the backdrop of these ongoing court cases, Grant Reeher, director of the Campbell Public Affairs Institute and a professor of political science at Syracuse University, spoke to The Mirror about how the controversial politician is still leading the pack.

He told The Mirror: "I always say this, if this were normal politics and a normal guy, I would say that these things would be disqualifying. For any kind of presidential candidate.

"But obviously, neither of those two ifs are true here. I would have thought that the drip drip drip of these criminal and now civil legal problems would have eroded a lot of his support by now. And one would have thought that what we learned about his behaviour before, during and after January 6, and after the November election would have really diminished some of the support even of his deepest supporters."

Trump has slammed the accusations against him as politically motivated. Attending the civil trial in New York, where he is accused of overvaluing his net worth by billions of dollars, he called the lawsuit a “sham,” a “scam,” a waste of the state’s time and “a continuation of the single greatest witch hunt of all time.”
