Strictly star Zara McDermott details phone calls with Graziano Di Prima's wife
Strictly Come Dancing star Zara McDermott says she's had plenty of phone calls with professional dance partner Graziano Di Prima's wife.
In fact, Giada Lini receives more messages from Zara than from her husband as she training Italian celebs in their own version of the show. The UK hopefuls have been talking about the first month on the BBC programme with OK! Magazine and says both the couple have grown close.
The beauty, loved up with Made In Chelsea's Sam Thompson, said: “We’re talking to Giada all through the day as well, we video call her. The other day, Graziano texted, ‘Where are you?’ and I was like, ‘I’m on the phone to Giada - soz!’ We are part of each other’s families and each other’s lives, and I think we will be for the foreseeable. You build such a close bond and partnership, you get to know each other so quickly that it’s like a really unbreakable bond.”

Why couldn’t you just cook something not Italian.’ But it went really well.”
Zara was asked if Sam would be tempted to do the show next year but those hoping to see him following in her dance steps are going to be disappointed. “I don’t think so, to be honest,” she said. “He’s a great supporter but he’s the kind of person who likes to be floating around lots of different jobs throughout the day. Starting from scratch is hard and you need to have the right mentality for it, so I’m not sure, but I think he’d be great if he did do it!"

Graziano and Zara have had an eventful few weeks on the show (PA)Zara also opened up and says she suffered with self-esteem issues as a child, and has always felt physically self-conscious. “I’ve always been that uncoordinated, lanky person who doesn’t look smooth when they move,” she says. “I even remember feeling it at school, dancing with my friends. I must have been 10. I never felt confident in my own skin when doing any kind of movement.”
Speaking at the Daily Mirror's Pride of Britain awards, Zara explained that signing up for Strictly was completely out of her comfort zone and has been like learning a new language. She told the Daily Star: "When I signed up for Strictly it was completely out of my comfort zone. It’s something brand new that I have never done. It’s been confidence-building like learning a new language. There’s a lot of work that goes into it.
"In Strictly we’re in our own little bubble and set our own goals. I just focus on doing my best each week. The spirit is really good, but every week you feel a bit bad because you’re so close and everyone roots for everyone else. It’s a competition but it doesn’t feel like that sometimes because you just want everyone else to do really well. It’s like a family.”
