Evan-May revealed sweet and sour sauce actually contains fruit, which baffled her and other Maccies fans as she admitted she'd never so much as 'associated' the sauce with fruit before. The TikTok user then went on to reveal that the fruity ingredient was in fact apricot, not pineapple or mango as some had wrongly guessed, leaving many of her followers in a state of complete astonishment. One person gasped: "I was 100% convinced it was pineapple, maybe because they put it in the little tubs when you get a Chinese."
Another reflected: "I said mango so confidently. I had no idea that it was even a fruit at all. I eat it and I would never think that," while a third declared: "No wonder I don't like it! Curry girl till I die."

Talking about her discovery, Evan-May said she was 'shaken to her core' when she found out that sweet and sour sauce contains apricot, as she had no idea until she decided to read the ingredients list while bored. And her findings have led her to question other condiments, as she's realised there's so many she doesn't know the ingredients of.
She said: "When I found out it was apricot, I was shaken to my core as didn't even associate it with fruit. I've eaten sweet and sour sauce from McDonald's for years to go with my chippies, I've always loved it. About a week ago I won a free meal through Monopoly and whilst eating the sauce I just became curious about what it was actually made of. So I read the ingredients and was completely shocked to find out it was from apricots."
"I've never actually thought about it, but now I’m wondering about all sorts of condiments - I mean what about brown? They're just so elusive. I assumed that everybody wouldn't know as well, so had to share my discovery with my fellow McDonald's lovers. Turns out everybody is as surprised as me, and I've even now found out the curry sauce uses apricot as well."
