A dad-of-two has won a staggering amount of arcade tickets while on holiday at a Lincolnshire seaside resort with his family.

Philly Jones was staying at Butlin's in Skegness for the week with his wife and two sons when he decided to show off his arcade gaming skills. He started playing the candy drop ball machine inside the Skyline tent during the afternoon of Monday, October 9 and when he won game after game he ended up with an astonishing 27,890 tickets.

Not only did Mr Jones, from Birkenhead, win tickets for his two sons, he also won a number of tickets for a young boy celebrating his third birthday and for a few other children who came to watch him play. His wife, Rachel, was surprised to see how many tickets he had won.

She told Lincolnshire Live: "I was shocked at the sheer scale of tickets, but not that he was winning, because he is really good at arcade games. A number of staff inside the arcade saw him as they had to keep coming over to refill the tickets for him." She added that he spent the tickets on a range of prizes including plushies, board games, Transformer figures, squishies and light up toys.

The news comes a month after The Mirror reported how one British family's rooms at Butlin's "stank with filthy water coming up through the floor" while "rats were swimming outside".

Haylee Shave says the accommodation at Minehead was "completely flooded with filthy contaminated water". The resort was flooded in two inches of water this week and some guests did praise the resort for its efforts considering the conditions. Following torrential downpours, the resort had to shut down its pool, restaurant and Centre Stage entertainment venue on Sunday. Then on Monday, Butlin's announced it would close down completely until Thursday.
