'I tested Sol de Janeiro's affordable £22 mist that's just like Flowerbomb'
I love perfumes, candles, anything that has a strong scent. So when I saw Sol de Janiero had come out with a new perfume mist - and one that's supposed to smell like Flowerbomb I knew I had to get my hands on it.
After Hours has notes of caramel, vanilla and whipped cream which many of us will associate with the Gourmand brand, but there are also notes of Patchouli, Amberwood, Freesia and Pear which I thought stood out. There's something a little bit more mature about the fragrance, and almost seductive - I think this is common in fragrances that dub themselves a night time scent.
I will say it's important to note that this is a perfume mist rather than a traditional perfume so it doesn't have the longest longevity, I find myself topping up every hour or so. I find if I'm wanting something longer lasting I lean towards roll on perfumes and EDP's, at this time of year I find spices, musks and vanilla scents are the most popular.
I would say After Hours is a great addition to the Sol de Janeiro range if you're looking for something gourmand that's a little bit more grown up. It's not just me who thinks so either, shoppers who have got their hands on the product seem to have a similar opinion.
One wrote: "This is the most luxe grown up scent from Sol whilst still being sweet. The longevity could be better but it still makes me wish that it was a permanent addition to the line up!"
'I'm Aldi obsessed & these perfume dupes are landing this week - including Dior'
A second penned: "This is such a nice fragrance. Sexy, fresh, such an easy scent to wear. Only downside is the longevity, unfortunately is not the best. Perhaps an eau de perfume version could remedy that."
A third added: "Really reminds me of flowerbomb. More of a night time scent than the usual Sol de Janeiro body mists. 1 star off as it doesn’t last long enough."
Sol de Janeiro has a number of mists but these two stand outI do think my number one spot from the brand remains taken by Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 62, which is also known as the scent behind Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. I find this one also lasts longer but perhaps that's just because the notes are more bold.
It has the famous notes of pistachio and salted caramel, honestly I think it just makes me smell like something I'd want to immediately eat. It you're wanting to smell like dessert and the classic Brazilian Bum Bum Cream without forking out £42 for a tub this is the best way to do it. I'd actually recommend buying Treacle Moon's Brazilian Love lotion and layering it with this mist.
I will say I do love a perfume mist for everyday wear, with them having lower price points I don't find myself worrying too much about using it all up. I'm particularly fond of the ones from Lush for longevity and natural scents and Bath & Body Works for the sheer selection.
Overall I'd say I definitely recommend getting a Sol de Janeiro mist in your perfume collection, at £22 a bottle they're quite reasonably priced for what you get. I do think they're best for layering rather than being the only fragrance you're using. My favourite has to be Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 62 but I do think After Hours will be a good fit for those looking for something to wear on date nights rather than in the day.
