Meghan Markle had a very sweet response after she greeted a host in New York City who was unsure of Royal protocol and whether or not he should hug her.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were on a trip New York last week, which was the first time they had returned to the city after their "near catastrophic" car chase. The couple had a very hefty security comprising of a seven-car convoy following them to various events relating to mental wellness.

In Manhattan for their Archewell Foundation's Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in a Digital Age event to coincide with World Mental Health Day, the couple met a famous host while on their trip. Meeting Today's host Carson Daly, the anchor has now revealed that he was "unsure as to whether to curtsey or hug" the famous duo.

Speaking to his Today co-hosts Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Al Roker, and Craig Melvin on Wednesday, Carson recalled details from his encounter with the Duke and Duchess. He revealed: "One of the main events was a special conversation that I shared with the Duke and Duchess, Harry and Meghan, about how to build a safer space online for our kids and teenagers.

"By the way, they were so great. People asked me, 'How were the royals?' I didn't know whether to curtsey or hug, like, what's the royal rules and whatnot?"

But then Carson revealed the sweet way that Meghan reassured him. "And Meghan [said], 'Bring it in,' [with a] big hug." Savannah then gushed: "That's really cool."

While at the event, Meghan gave a touching speech about how she worries about the future for her children and children in general. Speaking at the summit, she said: "Being a mum is the most important thing in my entire life… outside of course, being a wife to this one [Harry].

"But I will say I feel fortunate that our children are at an age, again quite young, so this isn't in our immediate future, but I also feel frightened by how it's continuing to change and this will be in front of us. They say being a parent - the days are long, but the years are short.

"So it worries me, but I'm also given a lot of hope and a lot of energy by the progress we've made in the past year."
