Married At First Sight's Terence breaks silence on shock exit after rule break

Married At First Sight UK star Terence has spoken out after he left the show in a shock exit.

As part of the latest episode of MAFS on Channel 4, Terence walked away from the social experiment after he refused to continue his relationship with wife Porsha following the news that she had kissed others in a game of spin the bottle.

Yet in doing so he broke one of the programme's cardinal rules, as the show's rules typically state that a couple can't leave unless they both want to. If one member wants to leave and the other wants to stay, then they both remain on the show for another week.

However, Terence insisted he would be quitting the show in last night's episode, leaving his wife Porsha 'blindsided' after she claimed he had been reassuring her minutes before about the news that she had locked lips with some of the other contestants in an off-camera game.

During his couch chat with Porscha and the experts, Terence revealed his decision as he said: "I thought it was a pride thing, I thought everyone had the upper hand and they were laughing at me.

"So I was trying to say stay, trying to stay leave, I was toying for ages - it wasn't until the last minute I made the decision. I've taken time by myself and I've listened to some of the guys. But, I'm leaving."

In an Instagram live video posted after his exit aired, Terence has now further explained his reasons as he told fellow MAFS star Luke: "I watched that just a minute ago and I've got a headache. Obviously I knew what was going to happen, but actually watching it and replaying it and how it went on the day...it just made me feel like, when I was going through that whole process it weren't easy. It weren't nice.

"Some people think it's all fun and games and you're doing it for TV, I know I definitely weren't."

Addressing the comment by Porsha that she was "blindsided" by Terence's decision, he added: "Yeah probably to be fair. I had checked out. I'm just like, 'Every week this woman has got me in drama'. What was my saying on week one, I said to Paul the expert that I don't do drama.

"I went in there to find a wife, thinking yeah we're gonna vibe, we're gonna cook, we're gonna have a good time... and then I got the complete opposite."

Concluding, Terence said: "The show only finished two or three minutes ago and my phone is just exploding and I can't even catch up."

Responding to the video on Instagram, fans praised Terence's decision to leave the programme. One fan commented: "SO PROUD OF YOU for saying leave! She was a narcissist that wanted to trap you to keep you there. Hope you find someone else who’s kind and into music and partying like you xx".

Another added: "Big up yourself, you handled that like ah real man! You definitely made the right decision! Self worth personified".

"Well done, you did yourself proud!!! I knew she was drama from the start & you were too good for that situation & like you say a grown man!" shared a third.

A fourth wrote: "Loads of respect for how you handled tonight. You deserve so much better."
