Adele and Rich Paul have been surrounded by marriage rumours in recent weeks, with the sports agent hinting that they have indeed tied the knot.

During an appearance on CBS Mornings, 41-year-old Rich was asked by host Gayle King if she could refer to Adele as "Mrs Paul". He replied: "You can say whatever you want." He then added: "It's not for the media."

Rich explained how he isn't the "type of person to put [his] personal life" in the spotlight. The couple are notoriously private about their romance and relationship expert Louella Alderson believes it's because they face a "unique set of challenges".

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, she said: "Despite her superstar status, Adele has always lived a relatively private life, especially when it comes to her relationships. Fame brings with it a unique set of challenges that can put strain on any relationship—celebrities often face constant public scrutiny, invasion of privacy, and a lack of personal space.

"This intense spotlight can lead to increased pressure and stress that can negatively impact their personal lives. The desire for privacy in their romantic relationships is a protective measure to maintain a sense of normalcy and intimacy away from the public eye."

The relationship expert said Adele and Rich will be able to "nurture their relationship" by keeping it out of the limelight. She said this can be achieved as they won't have "added pressure and attention from the media."

Louella, co-founder of the So Syncd dating app, said being private about a relationship has several advantages. She told us: "It allows them to establish a genuine connection free from the influence of external factors, preserving the authenticity of their relationship.

"By shielding their personal lives, they can also minimise the potential exploitation by tabloid media, reducing the risk of rumours and gossip damaging their relationship. Moreover, privacy enables them to prioritise their emotional well-being, protecting themselves and their family from unnecessary stress and intrusion."

Before starting a relationship with Rich, Adele was married for three years. Louella said: "Adele has gone through a divorce in the past, which she remarkably managed to keep incredibly private. It's clear that she does not want her personal life to be the subject of conversation, and instead, her music is her core focus.

"By keeping their marriage under wraps, Adele can maintain some sense of control over how much or how little she shares with the public. People have noticed that Adele goes into hiding between albums and resurfaces right before the release of a new one. This is likely another way for her to focus on her music away from media attention and keep her personal life out of the limelight."
