A woman has revealed she's worried about the future with her partner - as she's convinced he's allergic to her, and is now full of "hopelessness" about their relationship.

Every time they are together, she explains how he will show signs of an allergic reaction, suffering with "itchy, swollen, eyes, and a stuffy nose and throat."

Doing all she can to make sure her allergy-prone boyfriend doesn't come into contact with any chemicals that set him off, she doesn't know what else she can do when they're together - and is worried he will never not have an allergic reaction while they're together.

The couple only see each other every two to three months due to being in a long-distance relationship, yet the allergic reaction has been a hinderance since their second date. After seeking help, the unnamed woman reveals how she has taken every precaution to make sure she doesn't use any of the chemicals her boyfriend is allergic to - but it still doesn't work, and is now convinced he's just allergic to her.

Explaining that her boyfriend has to take Benadryl whenever they are together, she said she's filled with so much "hopelessness and helplessness" and desperately shared her situation on Reddit in a bid to gain advice from others. She said: "Me and my boyfriend are in a long-distance relationship and we visit each other every two or three months. We have had a persistent problem dating back to our second-ever visit together."

It's usually after three days that he will start to react, and the couple figured it was a "chemical reaction after it happened consistently over a few visits". Her boyfriend then saw an allergist who told him he was allergic to a number of chemicals, and the woman detailed how she had "taken extreme precautions to prevent a reaction."

Now she is aware, she makes sure every product she uses is allergen-friendly for her boyfriend and will always check the ingredients in every product "excessively". She further detailed: "Before our most recent visit, (I flew to him,) I washed my clothes and bedding with allergen-friendly detergent, didn't use any perfume or products he was allergic to the week before, and showered multiple times with only the allergen-friendly products.

"However, about two to three days into our visit, he had another allergic reaction. At first it was just a runny nose and stuffy throat, but then on the last two days he began to get the itchy eyes again. I am filled with so much hopelessness and helplessness. I genuinely am convinced that he is allergic to my body. I have nowhere else to turn, and at this point I'm questioning our capability of ever living together, so I was hoping anyone had any idea what our next steps should be."

One helpful Reddit user suggested: "Something I don't think you mentioned taking out of your regime, that is a common product that is commonly used and not thought about, is lotions. You may have taken these out but not 100% sure so I mention it as so many do use moisturizers.
