Harry Kane has shared his excitement at the news his foundation will partner with UK charity Bounce Forward in an effort to support mental health causes.

The Harry Kane Foundation was launched on World Mental Health Day in 2022, when the England captain was still a Tottenham player. Now on the books of Bayern Munich after a high-profile summer move, Kane has announced the new partnership on the first anniversary of his foundation coming into being.

Bounce Forward is just the latest partner to join forces with the foundation, whose aims include efforts "to normalise conversations on mental health". Speaking as the partnership was announced, the 30-year-old opened up on what will come next.

“I’m proud of the work my foundation has achieved over the last year, and I am excited that we will extend our reach and impact through a new partnership with Bounce Forward," Kane said. "We are supporting Bounce Forward because they are experts in their field and have developed evidence-based resources that align perfectly with our aim of promoting the benefits of positive self-belief and the connection between physical and mental health.”

The partnership with Bounce Forward will begin with 17 schools benefitting from 'Healthy Minds' teaching resources. The resources include 'bespoke content' from the England star and his wife Kate, with Bounce Forward hopeful the resources can eventually become available to every primary and secondary school in the country.

“Harry and Kate’s commitment to influence how we think about mental health is perfectly timed," Bounce Forward CEO Lucy Bailey said.. "When it comes to mental health, prevention is so much better than cure, and our psychological health is as important as physical health.

"It is increasingly challenging to navigate our changing and complex world. For adults it is hard, for children it is even harder."

The latest move comes one year on from Kane reading a bedtime story on CBeebies for World Mental Health Day 2022. The story, entitled 'The Lion Inside', was about a lion discovering his roar and aired just a few weeks before the striker captained England at the World Cup.

"One of my favourite things to do is sit down with my children before bedtime and read them a book," he said at the time."I enjoy this quality time with them. They especially love the book The Lion Inside so they will be extremely excited to hear this."

Kane has been involved in a number of other mental health initiatives, including a discussion with England team-mate Declan Rice and the Prince of Wales during Men’s Health Awareness Month in November 2022. Then, during Mental Health Awareness Week in May 2023, he took part in a discussion about mental health with Formula 1 driver George Russell.
