Emmerdale's Suni Sharma - Hollywood blockbuster roles and secret comedy past

Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) only joined Emmerdale this summer but has already proven to be a real hit with fans. The charismatic cousin of Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson), actor Brahmdeo describes Suni as a "confident, magnetic and very fashion conscious" character set to bring "some flair" to the Dales, and it looks as though the part has been very well cast indeed.

Multi-talented Brahmdeo brings some of the glamour of Hollywood to the beloved ITV soap, having appeared in various blockbuster films over the years. He also has a talent for comedy, evident through his latest character's witty repertoire.

Hollywood roles

Brahmdeo has quite a few blockbuster movies under his belt. He's previously played Hope's assistant in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), and has also made an appearance in Enola Holmes (2022), starring Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown. On this side of the pond, Brahmdeo has also acted in ITV crime drama series The Bay (2022), playing gifted boxer Saif Rahman.

Speaking about what drew him to the character of Suni at the time the casting was announced, Brahmdeo said: "Confident, magnetic and very fashion conscious Suni looks forward to injecting some flair to the Emmerdale village. He's not afraid to be his true self and go after what (and who) he wants. I think what Emmerdale does brilliantly is making sure there's accurate representation of real people and telling their authentic stories. Bringing a wonderful character like Suni to life on a continuing drama is incredibly important to me as it gives exposure to a demographic which is sadly still under-represented so I truly hope to do him justice, and thank Emmerdale and its fans for the privilege."

Talent for comedy

Acting aside, Brahmdeo is also very, very funny, and will often showcase his comedic talents in creative sketches shared via TikTok, where Brahmdeo will regularly leave his 17.1K followers in stitches with his relatable takes on life. His regular cheeky impersonations is a "city banker f*** boy" have proven particularly popular, with Brahmdeo imagining the character in a number of scenarios, from Christmas romcoms to first dates.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
